Sleep Pattern and Night-Time Muscle Activity in Children With Cerebral Palsy Compared to Typically Developing Peers

چکیده

Objectives: To compare night-time muscle activity in children with cerebral palsy (CP) that typical developing peers. Methods: Polysomnography electroencephalography (EEG), electrocardiogram, electromyography (EMG), respiration, and electrooculography movements recorded during one night were used to characterize sleep stages a group of CP (Gross Motor Function Classification Scale I–III) typically (TD) (aged 3–13 years). Periods EMG for the tibialis anterior soleus (SOL) muscles identified, coherence between EEG was measured assess corticomuscular drive sleep. Results: There no significant differences groups total time, average time spent awake, or rapid eye movement, N1, N3 Children significantly less N2 than their healthy peers (43% vs. 51%, p=0.03). only difference TD SOL wake stage. Otherwise, there signals any Conclusion: Mildly affected do not show altered patterns as compared Abnormal is unlikely contribute disturbance, development contractures, joint deformation, pain, general discomfort this CP.

Tactile function in children with unilateral cerebral palsy compared to typically developing children.

PURPOSE Tactile deficits have been understudied in children with unilateral cerebral palsy (UCP) using a limited range of tactile assessments. This study aims to characterize performance across a comprehensive battery of tactile registration and perception assessments in children with UCP and typically developing children (TDC). METHODS Fifty-two children with UCP (Gross Motor Function Classi...

Energy expenditure and physical activity of ambulatory children with cerebral palsy and of typically developing children.

BACKGROUND Children with cerebral palsy (CP) expend more energy when walking than do their typically developing peers. The effect this has on physical activity levels (PALs) and on total energy expenditure (TEE) will have important implications when determining energy requirements. OBJECTIVES This study aimed to investigate the components of TEE in children with CP in comparison with typicall...

A Comparison of Time Use Patterns and Self-Efficacy between Mothers of Children with Cerebral Palsy and Mothers of Typically Developing Children

Abstract Objectives Comparing time use patterns and self-efficacy in two groups of mothers including mothers of children with CP and mothers of children with typical development is the main objective of this study. Method This study was carried out in 2017 in Arak, on 200 mothers. Multiple sources of evaluation were used including Mothers' Time Use Questionnaire and Sherer General Self-eff...

Differences in habitual physical activity levels of young people with cerebral palsy and their typically developing peers: a systematic review.

PURPOSE To systematically review and compare the daily habitual physical activity levels and sedentary times of young people with cerebral palsy to their typically developing peers and to physical activity guidelines. METHOD After searching electronic databases, two reviewers independently applied criteria. Studies were required to include young people with cerebral palsy (up to 18 years) and...

Mechanical properties of the plantarflexor musculotendinous unit during passive dorsiflexion in children with cerebral palsy compared with typically developing children.

AIM To examine the passive length-tension relations in the myotendinous components of the plantarflexor muscles of children with and without cerebral palsy (CP) under conditions excluding reflex muscle contraction. METHOD A cross-sectional, non-interventional study was conducted in a hospital outpatient clinic. Passive torque-angle characteristics of the ankle were quantified from full planta...
